Charlotte Worlds tour - Wednesday 17 September
Race Report - 9/18/2008 2:56:07 AM

Well day 3 of the Worlds has come and gone......

Today consisted of two rounds of qualifying, starting with group 1 and ending with group 15 in both cases.

The first round looked about as bad as the practice session with many of the drivers still not choosing to go out. First up was Louis in group 1, in his race only one driver managed to complete the 10 minute race - proving that the track was still not ready for use.....

Of the team - the only one who managed to finish their 10 minute qualifier in one piece (although with a flame out) was Kenny.

By the time the second qualifiers started the traction was coming up and the racing line was forming - allowing us a chance at finishing our qualifiers.

Many of the top runners had issues today - allowing Dean a gap to prove what he's made of in group 4, taking on The Drake, Scott Hughes, Mark Pavidis and several others.

Dean managed to put up a 46.7 second lap time - with Scott Hughes taking the fastest lap of 46.3 seconds - only .4 off of the pace. He lead for the first couple of laps and held off attacks from Pavidis and others. In fact at times he was pulling away from many of the top guys. Just need to work on some consistency now.....

The track is quite unpredictable in places..... ruts have formed and holes where you can't see from the driver's stand.

The weather seems to be clearing up nicely - and today was dry all day with no rain at all. The prediction for the rest of the week is clear and Ike seems to have left the building.

Lets hope the track stays exactly as it was late today.

Cya y'all later (said in my best Americanese)
